Instructions
- Cook the peas in boiling water until just tender, removing them from the water immediately and setting them aside in a bowl of ice (this stops them from getting mushy). Next, sauté the bacon (Canadian style is nice) until crispy, reserving a little fat to sauté the shallots. If there isn’t enough fat, or you’d like a less greasy alternative, use a little olive oil. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to boil for the pasta. While that cooks, add butter, lemon, baking soda and salt and pepper to the shallots. Drain the pasta when tender, then toss with the bacon, shallot, sauce and pea mixture.

Magical Symbolism and Uses
Folk magic tells us that eating exactly 365 peas on New Year's Day (one each for every day to bring luck). The fat in the bacon "fattens" your wallet.
If you'd like to add an incantation while you're tossing everything together, here's an example:
“Pasta and pea, bring money to us!
By bacon and shallot,
help us keep what we’ve got!”
Use greens to support the money energies in this dish, or carrot noodles to give you sound insights on using money wisely.
